Songwriter Linda
Draper, an early influence on the sound of what became downtown NYC’s revered
Anti-folk music scene, is pleased to announce that she has entered into a
publishing deal with Tompkins Farm Music,
a boutique
US start-up owned by Jeff Aber –
a veteran record executive, personal manager and entertainment attorney – which
recently
became part of the IMPEL
international collective of independent music publishers.
“I am thrilled to be joining the amazing Tompkins Farm Music roster of talent,” Draper says of the signing. “After
speaking with Jeff, we had an
instant connection and I knew my music had found its publishing home.”
Likewise, Aber
knew that Draper’s songs were an
immediate fit for the Tompkins Farm
Music roster.
“I heard one song and I knew I wanted to work with Linda,” Aber comments. “She is a truly gifted songwriter whose music and
lyrics are not only perfect for placement in film, television, and advertising,
but also ripe for other artists to cover and interpret.”
Just prior to finalizing the arrangement with Tompkins Farm Music, Draper landed two sync deals with the
multi-billion dollar John Deere
corporation.
Instrumental versions of Draper’s songs “Patience and
Lipstick” and “Sharks and Royalty”
can now be heard in online ads for John
Deere’s Gator™ vehicle here
and here.

Tomorrow evening, April
2nd, tune in at 840 PM ET
for an interview and session with Linda
Draper on Roanoke, Virginia’s NPR-affiliate
WVTF’s “Roots Down” program. Listen
here.
Later this month, Draper
will be recording songs for the Leesta
Vall Sound Recordings lathe cut vinyl series on April 26th. These records are like audio Polaroids, in
that Draper will perform a song from
her catalog live, with the vinyl record being cut in real time, making the
buyer the only owner of that performance.
Inspired by her long road trip from NYC to Surf City
in North Carolina, where Draper
recently relocated after decades in Brooklyn, a brand-new song has emerged. “Something Brighter” will be included
as an option for the Leesta Vall
series.
Back in town for the Leesta Vall session, Draper
clearly hasn’t left New York in the rear view, and will be playing several NYC
area shows in April, as well. See below for more info.

Linda Draper discusses her latest single “All In Due Time” with The Bluegrass Situation
“As the last couple of years unfolded, the ripple effect of this pandemic has hit people in different ways. I wrote this song with that in mind (it also coincided with the second wave of cases). Usually the songs I write have a bridge that leads to a new direction before resolving itself in the end. ‘All In Due Time’ doesn’t have a bridge, but instead segues into this cyclically layered chorus.
“I wanted the structure of the song to support the feeling in the lyrics and capture this snapshot in time when everything felt like it was in a holding pattern. I really enjoyed the collaborative spirit of recording this with Jeff Eyrich (who produced it and played bass), David Mansfield (violin), Doug Yowell (drums/percussion), Bennett Paster (piano), Steve Rossiter (who recorded my guitar and backup vocals), and Dae Bennett (who recorded my main vocals and mixed it).”

Linda Draper | “Tether (Acoustic Version)”
+++
Linda Draper calls out pandemic hypocrisy in acoustic version of ‘Tether,’” says The Boot in its premiere coverage
of the tune, the closing tune from Patience and Lipstick, Draper new full-length, out now.
“They keep speaking in their crooked tongues, trying
to sell me the idea we’re all in this together,” Draper sings of “disorganized media and political messaging in the
face of inaction to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.” She says, “I beg to differ.”
“I wrote it at the beginning of the pandemic,” Draper explains of the song’s blunt
tone. “I was disgusted with how we were suddenly barraged with insincere messages.”
The Boot continues, “Evoking the righteous political folk
storytelling of Joan Baez, the song
is a powerful testament to the frustration and mourning many people have
experienced throughout the pandemic.”
