“Best mashup artist out there.” – The Hidden Playlist

“E-603 just released a masterpiece of a mash-up album...” – Under The Rotunda

Earmilk exclusively debuted the E-603 remix of the Passion Pit tune “Seaweed Song” and now the track has generated nearly 30,000 plays, sending it straight toHype Machine’s remix charts.  The track was a sneak preview of the E-603 remix album The Remixes Vol 1 which, as with all E-603 albums, is now available for free download. The album also features E-603 takes on hits by Robyn, Miguel, Ellie Goulding and more.

New Hampshire’s Ethan Ward aka E-603 has been creating a nostalgic, yet original, blend of music made from samples since 2002.   Emerging from the mashup scene that produced Girl Talk, The Hood Internet and others, Ward takes a more musical approach than his peers, including his own instrumentation in his unprecedented, superfast cut and paste production aesthetic.

Ward’s third album SMOKESHOW announces him as a master of the genre, as he utilizes samples from as many as fifteen songs at once and ultimately constructs some of the most elaborate electronic songs out there. To date, E-603’s SMOKESHOW has been downloaded more than 50,000 times and his previous albums are all certified internet sensations..

SMOKESHOW’s lead track “Bang Bang” will have you at hello. Utilizing the recognizable opening of The Go-Go’s “We Got The Beat” to take you there, the songs kicks off an album that incorporates more than 300 samples into its 45 minutes. In addition to SMOKESHOW and The Remixes Vol 1, Ward has also been producing his own wholly original, non-sample-based music that varies in content from Daft Punk-style French House to Southern-style Trap Hip-Hop slammers.

Minneapolis-based musician Mark Mallman’s upcoming historic event, “Marathon 4: Road Rogue,” is a transcontinental, bio-generated, one-man, non-stop, seven-day, 150-plus hour music performance starting in New York on September 15th and concluding in Los Angeles on September 22nd.  The entire event will be streamed live at markmallman.com, and if successful, is certain to provide a new trajectory for the future of music online and beyond.

“Marathon 4” is the follow-up to Mallman’s “Marathon 3” which was launched at 10PM on October 10th, 2010 (10/10/10!), and saw Mallman performing a non-stop, non-sleep, 78-hour song with 576-pages of lyrics, 110 guest musicians, and over 25,000 viewers logging in to the performance that went down as an endurance exercise much more akin to John Cage than David Blaine.

“Marathon 4” will see Mallman traveling coast-to-coast in a 1997 GMC Vandura van wired to webcast the proceedings.  He will perform music non-stop (even while sleeping), parking along the way in selected major cities where guest musicians will be invited aboard to jam.

As Mallman sleeps, he will be creating “biogen music” using an Emotiv EEG controller, a modified Mattel Mindflex, and a modified Polar heart rate monitor via MIDI through Ableton Live and a program made especially for “Marathon 4” called “BioWave”.  What it all means is that Mallman’s brain and body will be creating music without the help of his conscious self.

“I submit to technology to speak through me via this odd concert which I will perform crudely, admittedly, but will do so with humility,” Mallman states. “The vehicle is the venue. The venue is the mind. The mind is the music. The music is the journey. The journey is the vehicle. Gas, food, and bandwidth.”

“Marathon 4: Road Rogue” precedes the upcoming release of Mark Mallman’s latest album Double Silhouette, scheduled for October 9th.  See below for full “Marathon 4” schedule.  The parking location of a daily “open house” for the media, as well as Mallman’s special guest musicians, will be announced day-of in each city.

Mark Mallman is available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

You Will Heal is the latest track from Heartache In 4/4 Time by Starlings, TN

+++

Austin-based songwriter Steve Stubblefield will be embarking on a series of Southern dates with his band Starlings, TN in support of his current album Heartache In 4/4 Time, out now on Austin's Chicken Ranch Records.  The tour will include a date at this year's edition of the popular Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In celebration of the run, a new track from Heartache In 4/4 Time is being made available for download.

You Will Heal” began with an idea I had bringing in other people to tell help me tell a story through song,” says Stubblefield. “I reached out to fans and friends on Facebook asked them to share a story of something horrible they went through and how they got through it. To my surprise, I received numerous responses and then I took the stories and added a few of my own experiences to arrive at ‘You Will Heal.’

Stubblefield has his share of these kinds of stories, and they have set the tone for much of his songwriting in the past. “I wanted to be more positive on this record,” he admits. “Since I moved to Austin, life has been pretty good.  Hot as hell, but good. ‘You Will Heal’ represents that transformation more so than any other song on this record.”

See below for Starlings, TN tour dates. Heartache In 4/4 Time by Starlings, TN is out now via the Chicken Ranch Records. Steven Stubblefield is available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.
