“Mallman’s ‘70s-redolent
music could be huge...” – Pitchfork
“It's a video about how things aren't what they
appear. It’s a metaphor for our mistakes of the past,” says Mark Mallman of the
video for “Dirty Dishes” which
has debuted this week courtesy of Under
The Radar. The track is the latest single from Mallman’s newly released album Double Silhouette, which the man
whose fans call him “Mr. Serious”
describes as “A noir battlefield of car crashes and lightning strikes. It’s
about being too sad for words.”
Mallman is currently out on the road supporting the record
(see dates below), after spending September on a rather untraditional run across
the country performing a 150-hour-long song non-stop (even in his sleep!) from
the back of a van traveling from NYC to LA. “Marathon 4: Road Rogue,” as the experiment was named, was
broadcast live on the internet and received coverage from Wired,
USA
Today, NBC
News 4 New York and many more. Mallman is blogging
about his new tour via the website of Minnesota
Public Radio station The
Current.
Drawing a line between insanity and genius is a ritual
that Mark Mallman has built a career
on, earning him spots on stages with artists as diverse as Green Day, Cat Power and
Guided By Voices. Mallman’s songs have also found their
way to the airwaves of MTV, VH1, NPR, and his music has been written about in Rolling Stone, Pitchfork
and Time Out New York. Mallman
is also a featured contributor to the “Music
Theory for Dummies” series alongside Bob
Moog, John Cage and Andrew Bird.
Mark Mallman’s new album Double Silhouette is out now. Mark Mallman is available for
