2012 was year of growth for Columbus, Ohio-based band Red Wanting Blue. Starting in January with a Top 10 debut on the Billboard “Heatseekers” chart for its best-selling album to date, From The Vanishing Point, the band supported the album with non-stop touring all year.  The “From The Vanishing Point Tour” took Red Wanting Blue all over the US and Canada with sold-out shows at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Lincoln Hall in Chicago, and at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC where Red Wanting Blue drew a crowd five times larger than just one year previous.

The band also sailed on The Rock Boat cruise for the second time (in the company of Brandi Carlile, NEEDTOBREATHE, Good Old War, and others), made its network television debut on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” appeared on VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live,” taped a session for Daytrotter, and received press attention from Rolling Stone, MTV, Paste, and more.  Late last year, Red Wanting Blue recorded a set for NPR’s heralded “Mountain Stage” program which will now air this week.  See here for a list of local NPR affiliates that carry the program.  The set will also be available online starting next week at this link.

Red Wanting Blue is now hard at work wrapping up the recording sessions for the follow-up to From The Vanishing Point.  Working once again with producer Jamie Candiloro (REM, Ryan Adams), singer-songwriter Scott Terry spent a week in Candiloro’s Los Angeles studio cutting demos before convening with the entire band in its Columbus, Ohio warehouse studio to begin the sessions.  The new album will once again be released by Fanatic Records, distributed by Caroline/Capitol Music Group. A release date for the as-yet-untitled record has yet to be announced.

In the meantime, Red Wanting Blue will be doing what the band does best.  The upcoming “Dime-Store Circus Tour 2013” will take Red Wanting Blue around the country again, on headlining dates and on shows with Will Hoge and Swear and Shake.  See below for a complete itinerary.  Scott Terry of Red Wanting Blue is available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

David Bronson launches week of summer tour dates as American Songwriter premieres “Living in Name” single from latest album.

“Bronson has soaked up all the best parts of ‘70s rock and created his own vibe.  Captivating.” – MAGNET

“Being just a solo acoustic guitar and voice, it’s the quietest song on what is generally a quiet album,” songwriter David Bronson says of “Living in Name,” the first track taken from his upcoming release, The Long Lost, arriving on September 17th.  The song has premiered exclusively via American Songwriter at this link.  “Emotionally and structurally, though, it’s the purest distillation of the meaning of the whole record.” Bronson will bring material from the album to life starting tomorrow during a week of tour dates throughout the northeast.  See below for details.

The Long Lost was produced Bronson and mixed by Godfrey Diamond (Lou Reed, Sparks, Glen Campbell) and is the more internal-feeling prequel to Bronson’s early-2013 album release Story.  That album earned Bronson attention not only for its songs which evoke the Cat Stevens and Harry Chapin era of songwriting, but also for its inventive videos that were variously featured by Under The Radar, Baeblemusic, My Old Kentucky Blog and others.

The album completes a 22-song cycle titled “The Long Lost Story,” that Bronson has been brewing for close to a decade and which documents what he terms “the most difficult period that I can remember.”  Silver linings being what they are, Bronson also found much to be positive about on the other side of the experience that gave this record its tone.  “I found a clear sense of myself as an artist during this time, so amidst all that discomfort, I also felt truly, undeniably alive.”

As for bringing all of these feelings up nearly a decade after the fact, Bronson explains, “I suppose it’s unusual to release a record so long after its making, but being so far away from where I was during the writing and recording really emphasizes the documentary aspect of the whole thing for me. I’m very happy that this period of my young life was recorded, and very excited to let it out into the world at long last.”

When Bronson isn’t writing and recording his solo material, he can be found working as a contributing composer and editor on filmmaker Jennifer Elster’s “The Being Experience.”  The project is an unflinching look at existence, featuring a cast of actors, thinkers, and musicians including Dave Matthews, Moby, Questlove, Rufus Wainwright, and Yoko Ono among many others.

David Bronson’s The Long Lost is scheduled for release on September 17th.  Bronson is available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

Check out the premiere of “Ride On The Shooting Star” by Peelander-Z courtesy of USA Today’s “Pop Candy” column!

“Action Comic Punk Band” Peelander-Z can now amend that description of its sound to “Action Comic Metal Band.”  Referencing the glory days of hair metal’s reign, the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Japan-by-way-of-planet-Peelander foursome Peelander-Z, along with the band’s team of sonic engineers, absorbed hundreds of gear reviews and blogs, and started collecting era-appropriate guitar gear to construct the upcoming new Peelander-Z album Metalander-Z, a recording that is both completely of its time and completely timeless.

The album (the band’s eighth studio recording) is set for release on September 10th, 2013 via Austin’s Chicken Ranch Records and nothing will ever be the same.  Some of the albums that inspired Metalander-Z include AC/DC’s High Voltage, Cinderella’s Night Songs, Def Leppard’s Pyromania, Iron Maiden’s Number of The Beast, Motley Crue’s Too Fast For Love, Van Halen’s 1984, and ZZ Top’s Eliminator.

Metalander-Z’s lead single is “Ride On The Shooting Star,” about which band leader Peelander-Yellow says, “Don’t stay at home, let’s go to see Milky Way with flying shining shooting star!!! We need long hair (wig is fine), cool metal tee, dyed jeans, and go to karaoke bar!!! Then sing this song!!!  Ohhh yeahhh!!! This is answer for beautiful hair metals!!!”  The song can now be heard via USA Today’s “Pop Candy” column and Peelander-Z will hit the road (including two Riot Fest appearances) the day after the album’s release on September 10th.  See below for dates.

Peelander-Yellow of Peelander-Z is available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information, guest list needs, etc.
