San Antonio-based band The March Divide will issue “Music for Television” on July 9th via Seattle’s Dead Letter Records label.  The new EP is the follow-up to the band’s debut album Music for Film, released earlier this year.  “L.A.” the latest single from “Music for Television” has premiered exclusively via CMT Edge.  The song is a real-life tale from band leader Jared Putnam’s life that details a time when he basically dropped out of society.

“After I broke up my band and quit the road, I spent a few years completely out of touch with almost everyone I knew,” Putnam explains about the years between ending his Emo-era group The Conversation and forming The March Divide. Putnam found constant touring in emo-era band to be a destructive force on his personal life.

“I sort of hid myself in a way that no one even knew where or how to find me. My label told me that they spent years looking for me, even periodically checking missing person reports and AMBER alerts. I guess I just wanted to start over as someone else. I now know how wrong that was, but it’s just where I was at the time.”

This period of instability inspired the song “L.A.,” which Putnam says is “probably my most honest song. It tells a lot of the story of what happened and why I did what I did. It was important for me to write a song like that, to be able to move forward. For me, it’s closure on a lot of the mistakes I made, and on everything I left behind.”

“Music for Television” by The March Divide is scheduled for release on July 9th, 2013.  The single “L.A.” is streaming and available for download now. Band leader Jared Putnam is available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.
