The Berg Sans Nipple announces U.S. tour with The Faint in support of Team Love release, Along The Quai.

“...The Berg Sans Nipple played an amazing set last night at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. The half-French, half-Nebraskan duo had a setup that could have easily belonged to a pretentious noise band; each member sported drums, keyboards, and a host of other various electronics and instruments (a steel drum, a melodica, cornet, etc.). However, The Berg Sans Nipple use these elements to create beautiful, sweet melodies.” – CMJ

The Berg Sans Nipple (it means “the mountain without a top”) is comprised of the pseudonym-donning Lori Sean Berg -- a debonair Parisian who looks like he might come from Omaha -- and Shane Aspegren, a European looking fellow who is actually an Omaha native who lived in Paris for six years.

The band proves to be as entertaining live as it is on its newest release Along the Quai (Team Love.) At a March show at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom with friends and collaborators Do Make Say Think, The Berg Sans Nipple had everyone from dreadlocked hippies to backward-cap-wearing frat boys to generally stoic hipsters dancing along to its afro-beat inspired percussion, immaculately layered loops, and hypnotizing melodica laden set.

Fans of The Berg Sans Nipple’s live show can stop hoping and start rejoicing. Having toured extensively throughout Europe, the band is now prepared to give audiences a reason to show up to venues early by bowling them over on a 20-date U.S. tour with Omaha electro-rockers The Faint. After one album, three EPs (one of which was a soundtrack) and a handful of compilation tracks, Along the Quai is the band’s first “proper” North American release and is the most ambitious recording to date on Conor Oberst’s (Bright Eyes) Team Love label.

The Berg Sans Nipple holed up last year in a house in a remote Parisian suburb with producer Antoine Gaillet (NTM, Johnny Halliday, M83) to create Along The Quai. The end result somehow manages to effortlessly blend dreamy electronica, percussion-heavy afro-beats, layers of feedback, pop melodies and dub blankets, creating a cohesive collage of everything that's influenced the duo since birth. While the duo’s organic sound lends support to the rumor that they are actually Siamese twins separated at birth, the reality is that they are two kids both best known for their skills as drummers, trapped in a tangled mess of cables, keyboards, samplers, horns, bells and machines.

When not creating music as The Berg Sans Nipple, Aspegren and Berg are still creating music. Aspegren can be heard playing drums on the latest Bright Eyes record Cassadaga and Berg was most recently a member of the beloved and hyped French anti-folk group Herman Dune. The Berg Sans Nipple plans to return to Europe at the end of the summer to begin recording a new album.
