Minneapolis-based musician Mark Mallman’s historic event, “Marathon 4: Road Rogue,” is a transcontinental, bio-generated, one-man, non-stop, seven-day, 150-plus hour music performance starting in New York on September 15th and concluding in Los Angeles on September 22nd.

While traveling cross-country from New York to Los Angeles, the “Marathon 4” van will stop in the following cities to meet, greet and welcome guest musicians on board to jam with Mark Mallman:

09/15 New York, NY (w/ guests Dick Valentine of Electric 6, the Hood Internet, MDNR)
09/15 Pittsburgh, PA (w/ guests Weird Paul Petrosky, Dave Bernabo)
09/16 Detroit, MI (stopping at Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit at 4PM w/ guest John Nash of Electric 6)
09/17 Chicago, IL (w/ guests TBA)
09/18 Minneapolis, MN (stopping at Minneapolis College of Art and Design at 5PM and The Hack Factory at 7PM)
09/19 Omaha, NE (stopping at The Joslyn at 4PM CST w/ guests TBA)
09/20 Denver, CO (stopping at Three Kings Bar at 630PM MST w/ guests TBA)
09/21 Las Vegas, NV (Pinball Hall of Fame / guests TBA)
09/22 Los Angeles, CA (Santa Monica Pier Parking Lot w/ guests TBA)

“Marathon 4” sees Mallman traveling coast-to-coast in a 1997 GMC Vandura van wired to webcast the proceedings.  He will perform music non-stop, even while sleeping, when he will be creating “biogen music” using an Emotiv EEG controller, a modified Mattel Mindflex, and a modified Polar heart rate monitor via MIDI through Ableton Live and a program made especially for “Marathon 4” called “BioWave”.

What it all means is that Mallman’s brain and body will be creating music without the help of his conscious self. “Marathon 4: Road Rogue” precedes the upcoming release of Mark Mallman’s latest album Double Silhouette, scheduled for October 9th.

Mark Mallman is available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

Brooklyn by way of Japan-based band Peelander-Z has announced five weeks of fall tour dates in support of its latest album Space Vacation, out now on Austin’s Chicken Ranch Records label. See below for dates. Venerable blog Brooklyn Vegan recently posted “Get Glasses,” the latest single from the record. Check it out streaming and available for download HERE.

2012 has been a great year for Peelander-Z so far. Comprised of color–coded band members Peelander–Yellow, Peelander–Red, Peelander–Green (and at various times Peelander–Pink and Peelander–Black), Peelander–Z came off of a stint as the band all of the other bands had to see on last Summer’s Vans Warped Tour and they haven’t slowed down since.

Recently the band appeared on the cover of Performer Magazine, played the inaugural Great Googa Mooga festival in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (where NBC’s “1st Look” caught up with them) and now can be found in the pages of the Summer issue of Paper Magazine (see photo above).

“Plastic Fantastic” is the first single from the debut self-titled album by TKTTSM.

+++

Brooklyn-based psychedelic rock duo TKTTSM is set to release its debut self-titled album on October 16th.

Comprised of Johanna Stahley and Owen O’Mahony, TKTTSM balances the weight of O’Mahony’s instrumentation with Stahley’s skewed pop vocals for a perfect representation of this band’s love of exploration, animals, exercise, and freedom, and their dislike of cops, politicians, financial institutions and any other power hungry villains.

Musically, Stahley and O’Mahony share a love of pop, noise, experimentation, and improvisation. Lyrics are co-written with a stream of consciousness approach, and the music is born in a similar fashion. Their debut album is a mural of the times we live in, and the things we fight for and against: love, death, materialism and truth.

“I’m a little scared of it!” Stahley says of the record.

O’Mahony’s confident approach to the direction of TKTTSM’s sound comes from a long history as an accomplished touring musician who has played with Jesse Malin, Brendan James and Esmée Denters among many others.

Outside of TKTTSM, Stahley maintains a more conventional songwriting career. Her song “Nothing I Would Change” is currently featured in a national commercial for Lowe’s, and another tune, “I Can” was the theme song for four seasons of “Ruby” on the Style Network.

For now, though, TKTTSM is focusing on getting the word out about its debut album – an appropriate soundtrack for these trying times.  The album’s first single “Plastic Fantastic” is streaming now.

TKTTSM is available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic to talk to the band or for more information.
