 Columbus, Ohio-band Red Wanting Blue released a live recording of its sold-out June 18th show at NYC venue City Winery via Noisetrade.com today. The full 90-minute-plus concert can be downloaded for free at: http://noisetrade.com/redwantingblue.

The band returns to the New York area this weekend to perform at the Pleasantville Music Festival this Saturday along with artists such as Good Old War, Delta Spirit and Sloan Wainwright.  Red Wanting Blue then heads back to NYC where the band will make its network television debut on the Late Show with David Letterman on July 18th.

The upcoming television appearance is a milestone for Red Wanting Blue which continues non-stop touring behind its current album From The Vanishing Point (see dates below).  A stop at Ohio’s All Good Music Festival follows the Letterman appearance and the band will be announcing a five-week fall tour before the end of the month as well.

Since the release of From The Vanishing Point in January, Red Wanting Blue has seen a steady increase in attention being paid to the sound that band leader Scott Terry has been bringing to America for over a decade.  With an advance sell-out at the 1400-capacity House of Blues in Cleveland to a Top 10 debut on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, Red Wanting Blue’s story is a textbook case of local boys making good.

“EDH is a radical artist who makes no compromises...” – Soon Magazine

Speaking to the venerable publication The Sentimentalist recently upon her arrival in the US for a string of East coast dates, French experimental electro artist Emmanuelle De Héricourt, (known as EDH) explained why she writes in English, saying,  “Because I’m not born with it. I like the fact that I can’t speak so well so I can torture it. When you sing with your own language, it’s more personal. Also, with French singing,” she smiles, “it maybe goes in a direction I don’t want.” Read the full piece here.

The Paris-based musician released her latest album Yaviz on June 12th via the French label Lentonia Records, distributed in America by Nail Distribution. De Héricourt’s music is demanding and scholarly, synthetic and human, mechanic and sensual and all the while it is still accessible and catchy.  Check out the evidence on “Ice”, the first single from Yaviz streaming now.

Connecting with like-minded artists from around the world, the deluxe vinyl edition of Yaviz is accompanied by a CD of remixes by diverse musicians such as UNISON, Stereovoid, Nicolas Jorio, Elmapi, Ricky Hollywood, Hypo and more. Los Angeles based rapper/producer Subtitle (aka Giovanni Marks), who has also collaborated with artists such as Madlib, Jimmy Tamborello of The Postal Service, Daedelus, Islands and The Mars Volta among others offers his remix of the EDH track “Ramble,” available for streaming and download now.

Brooklyn by way of Japan-based band Peelander-Z revealed the latest single from its Space Vacation album today via venerable blog Brooklyn Vegan.  “Get Glasses” – streaming and available for download HERE – is also the subject of a contest with a grand prize that includes a personalized one-of-a-kind drawing from band leader Peelander-Yellow himself.  Yellow, an accomplished visual artist, will kick off the band’s upcoming July tour dates with a solo art show (including an acoustic set of music!) in Austin on July 13th.  More info about this event, also courtesy of Brooklyn Vegan, can be found HERE.

2012 has been a great year for Peelander-Z so far. Comprised of color–coded band members Peelander–Yellow, Peelander–Red, Peelander–Green (and at various times Peelander–Pink and Peelander–Black), Peelander–Z came off of a stint as the band all of the other bands had to see on last Summer’s Vans Warped Tour and they haven’t slowed down since. Recently the band appeared on the cover of Performer Magazine, played the inaugural Great Googa Mooga festival in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (where NBC’s “1st Look” caught up with them) and now can be found in the pages of the Summer issue of Paper Magazine (see photo above).
