Peelander-Z, the Japanese action comic punk band based in New York City, pulled off that well-known SXSW phenomenon this year – after performing to an at-capacity Beauty Bar in Austin on March 15th, word quickly spread around town that Peelander-Z was a must-see. Throughout the rest of the week, the band’s remaining shows were packed, prompting coverage from Rolling Stone, the Village Voice and NPR among others. Peelander-Z was also perfectly profiled by The Onion.
Peelander-Z is now on a nationwide headlining tour (with openers Anamanaguchi) in support of its latest album P-TV-Z, and YouTube is exploding with clips from the band’s shows. Clips like this and this give a mere taste of the energy in the room when Peelander-Z takes the stage. It’s the same intensity that has landed the band a slot on this summer’s Vans Warped Tour and the kids of America will never be the same!
