About FLORE

Allying an audacious sense of melody with fervent rhythms, French DJ FLORE’s unique sound has inspired listeners all over the world these last few years. FLORE has now finished her first album, RAW. Featuring collaborations with worldwide stars like Rodney P (Dub Pistols) and Shunda K (Yo! Majesty), FLORE has worked hard to create a very personal sound, coherently and stylishly showcasing the wide range of influences which define her as an artist.

In 1998, the young red haired lady left piano and guitar and began appearing regularly on the drum n’ bass scene. FLORE soon made a name for herself playing alongside huge DJ’s such as The Freestylers, DJ Krust, Amon Tobin and Gilles Peterson all over France. Releases on various international labels followed and were supported by massive DJ’s such as The Plump DJ’s, Freq Nasty, Etc. and major radio stations such as BBC1, GalaxyFM and others.

In 2002, FLORE moved on from the drum n’ bass scene and turned her attentions to the electro and nu-breaks sound, a much more accessible and party orientated style that at the time was relatively unknown in France. As an initiator of this new musical genre for a great majority of the public, she soon came to the attention of promoters, notably the jury of the Printemps de Bourges who selected her in 2003 as one of the most interesting upcoming DJ’s in the electro category.

From then on, FLORE quickly became a automatic choice to play most of the French festivals (Transmusicales, Les Nuits Sonores, Marsatac, Nordik Impact, Francofolies), where she played alongside international artists such as Josh Wink, DJ Marky and Roots Manuva to name but a few. However it was in 2003 that she revealed her talent as a producer thanks to a few releases on Labrok, the most famous breaks and funk label from France. FLORE was quickly noticed by foreign labels such as MOFO and Promo Rec for whom she went on to put out a number of releases.

FLORE’s releases quickly made of her a pioneer of the French electro and breaks scene, playing regularly in the most renowned clubs in the world: Rex Club (Paris), Fabric (London), l’Usine (Geneva), Icon (Berlin), Beat Boutique (Cologne), and Cargo (Beijing) and world famous festivals such as Glade (UK). FLORE’s debut album RAW is set for release on July 20th, 2010 on the renowned Botchit & Scarper label. The record finally launches FLORE into the realm of internationally renowned electronic music producers - a place where she truly belongs!
