Every day is Valentine’s Day! Rae Okino shares her Valentine’s Day Top 5 via YouTube

The debut album by Los Angeles-based visual artist, producer, and vocalist Rae Okino arrives today via traditional consumer digital outlets, but the artist is also making the record available for free download via her Soundcloud account for a very limited time. The public can grab a copy of Valentine’s Day starting today, March 23rd at 12PM PST!

Why today instead of the newly-traditional release date of Friday?

Okino explains, saying, “It’s a full moon in Libra and I’m a Libra, and today is a day that closes out a cycle Libra’s have been in for two years.” Okino created Valentine’s Day within that two-year period, and goes on to say, “It’s a great day for Libra’s to release what they’ve been doing during that time, and my desire to offer the record for free as a gift to all of the lovers and feelers out there reflects that.”

“Lovers and feelers” is what Valentine’s Day, the holiday and the album, are all about, after all.

Valentine’s Day not only touches on love, lust, and the general ins and outs of relationships,” Okino explains, “but also on the relationship between togetherness and separateness as a means to achieve oneness.  Show the people you love why you love them, any chance you get.  Why wait for Hallmark to bank on your love for each other?”

“Game Changer,” the lead single from Valentine’s Day (premiered on February 14th by ear-to-the-ground music discovery site Buzzbands.la), starts where relationships do – at the beginning.  It’s about that “difficult stripping back of the layers,” Okino says.

The track, featuring rapper Lafa Taylor (a collaborator with Bassnectar and Beats Antique), is described by writer Kevin Bronson as a “dreamy, synth-drenched banger,” and is just one cut that comprises an overall effort by Okino to create what she calls a “sex positive” album.

Valentine’s Day, the debut album by visual artist, producer, and vocalist Rae Okino arrives today. Okino is already back in the studio working on her next round of material.  Rae Okino is available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

San Antonio-based songwriter, Jared Putnam, leader of the sometimes more, but usually one-man pop-rock band, The March Divide, is prolific. It’s a word used often / often misused, but when it comes to Putnam, it applies.  As such, The March Divide announces the upcoming release of a new album! Saturdays follows-up two album and three EP releases from Putnam in just a three-year period, and according to the artist, it’s his most satisfying work to date.

“I think I finally made the record I wanted to make,” Putnam says of the follow-up to 2014’s Billions and its accompanying 2015 EP “+1.” “I didn’t set out to write an album so soon after the last, but I never really stopped writing.”

It remains to be seen how Putnam’s growing fan base (the single “I Told You So” from Billions has already surpassed a half-million streams) will react to the new material, but it’s a safe bet that Putnam’s hard work and lyrical honesty will continue to resonate, especially on “Exit Signs,” the first single and video from Saturdays, which Putnam jokes must be about his past, because “I can’t seem to stop writing about it.”

“It's about running away,” Putnam explains of how the song, like so many by The March Divide, reflects on leaving a past life behind. “My songs help me figure it all out, I think. I wouldn't change a thing, and closure has been very hard for me, but I think I'm there.”

Saturdays by The March Divide arrives on May 13th, 2016, distributed by Burnside. The March Divide will be touring before, during, and after the release of Saturdays, as per usual.  Jared Putnam is available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

“An intense combination of multi-instrumentation and pure harmony.” – Elmore Magazine

Bellingham, Washington-based five-piece band Polecat combines bluegrass, Celtic, and rock sounds on its new album Into The Wind, out today.  Having established a reputation for high energy performances throughout the Northwest, the band will embark on a string of dates with Yonder Mountain String Band on March 15th.  Details of a headlining tour to follow are forthcoming.

Tracks from Into The Wind can be streamed now via Relix, Elmore Magazine, and The Bluegrass Situation.

+++

The members of Polecat arrived at their first rehearsal from very different musical backgrounds.

“Some of us shook hands for the first time that day,” says band leader and vocalist Aaron Guest of the initial meeting in early 2010.  Incorporating multiple genres that not only include the above, but also world, country, and reggae into a cohesive sound might have been impossible if each member of Polecat hadn’t learned the rules before breaking them.  The group is well-seasoned, having performed nearly 100 shows a year since its inception, but at that first meeting, Polecat didn’t even have a name.

In the five years that followed Polecat released two full-length albums and has seen consistent growth throughout the Northwest as each band member's musical diversity allowed them to chameleon through an incredible variety of gigs and audiences.

Into The Wind by Polecat arrives on March 11th, 2016. Members of Polecat are available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

Charlie Belle, the Austin-based sister-brother duo of Jendayi Bonds (guitar, vocals) and Gyasi Bonds (drums, vocals), has just been added to the South By Southwest Music official opening night party on March 15th at Maggie Mae’s.  The band will hit the stage at 9:20PM CST.

It’s been just over a year since the release of the first Charlie Belle EP “Get To Know,” which introduced 17-year-old Jendayi’s songwriting to a national audience.  Since then, Charlie Belle has gone on to release another five-song collection, “I Don’t Want To Be Alone,” which showcased a maturing take on the Brit-flavored pop sound that Jendayi is influenced by, but with more of an R&B overtone.

“It’s pretty R&B inspired,” she says of the latest EP.  “I’ve really been feeling the groove and trying to figure out a way to put that into Charlie Belle without taking away from who we are.”  The groove Jendayi is feeling hits home on the EP’s title track, premiered by NPR, which also featured the band at the end of 2015 with a piece that aired nationally on its “Weekend Edition” program.

“I Don’t Want To Be Alone,” the latest EP from Charlie Belle, is out now. Jendayi and Gyasi are available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

The Rondo Brothers is the San Francisco-based production and performance team of Jim Greer and Brandon Arnovick, both born in the fall of 1971. Starting their career in the long forgotten year of 1997 with the unforgettable Dr. Octagon album, the Rondos soon found themselves assisting famed producer Dan The Automator and immersing themselves in the world of cutting edge hip-hop, touring with Deltron 3030, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Head Automatica, and others.

Over the years that followed, Greer and Arnovick’s love of eclecticism found them in the studio with a wide range of artists and producers including Mario Caldato (Beastie Boys) to Prince Paul (De La Soul), Hieroglyphics, Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Cheap Trick), Galactic, Angelo Moore (Fishbone), Ivan Neville, and so many more.

The biggest success to date for the Rondos came when they helped discover and produce the first full-length album by Foster The People, which included the worldwide smash hit single “Pumped Up Kicks.” To date, The Rondo Brothers have released three full-length records of their own, with the duo’s latest Shadow Government (Shadow Series, Volume 1) out today.

The new record perfectly shows off Greer and Arnovick’s special brand of electro-organic songwriting and music composition, augmented by guests such as Rachel Fannan of Sleepy Sun, 20 Minute Loop singer Kelly Atkins, Russian pop auteur Olga Kapusting, rising songwriter Andrew St. James, and world-famous guru and author Bagavan Das who is featured on the album’s first single “Yosemite Das,” which Greer calls “a meditation and beat-oriented mantra for the masses.”

The Rondo Brothers are available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.
