“Mallman’s ‘70s-redolent music could be huge...” – Pitchfork

“It's a video about how things aren't what they appear. It’s a metaphor for our mistakes of the past,” says Mark Mallman of the video for “Dirty Dishes” which has debuted this week courtesy of Under The Radar. The track is the latest single from Mallman’s newly released album Double Silhouette, which the man whose fans call him “Mr. Serious” describes as “A noir battlefield of car crashes and lightning strikes. It’s about being too sad for words.”

Mallman is currently out on the road supporting the record (see dates below), after spending September on a rather untraditional run across the country performing a 150-hour-long song non-stop (even in his sleep!) from the back of a van traveling from NYC to LA. “Marathon 4: Road Rogue,” as the experiment was named, was broadcast live on the internet and received coverage from Wired, USA Today, NBC News 4 New York and many more.  Mallman is blogging about his new tour via the website of Minnesota Public Radio station The Current.

Drawing a line between insanity and genius is a ritual that Mark Mallman has built a career on, earning him spots on stages with artists as diverse as Green Day, Cat Power and Guided By Voices. Mallman’s songs have also found their way to the airwaves of MTV, VH1, NPR, and his music has been written about in Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Time Out New York.  Mallman is also a featured contributor to the “Music Theory for Dummies” series alongside Bob Moog, John Cage and Andrew Bird.

Mark Mallman’s new album Double Silhouette is out now. Mark Mallman is available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

“The Clutters clearly revel in making fun, rebellious and catchy rock songs.” – NPR

Nashville rock n’ roll pioneers, The Clutters, debuted the video for “Run” from its latest album Breaking Bones today via Paste Magazine.  The video was directed by Aqua Teen Hunger Force producer Jay Wade Edwards who also served as Supervising Editor and Producer on 2007’s “Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters”, which premiered on 950 screens and was called “the most successful full-on surrealist film since Bunnel and Dali’s 1930 ‘L’Age d’Or.’” by Premiere Magazine.

Of the clip, Edwards says, “The awesome new Clutters record was on semi-permanent rotation in my car. ‘Run’ came up, and its propulsive, all-out sprinting pace was the perfect match for this idea I had for two talented actress-friends who I've been dying to work with. They have similar a similar look, but are about 15 years apart in age. I wanted them to portray a woman haunted by her former self, the embodiment of her past not allowing her to move forward in life. The haunting becomes so intense that the adult woman finally breaks and bludgeons her younger self in a blood explosion. I saw it as beautiful and horribly violent in a psychologically uplifting way!”

Ten years ago, when The Clutters first emerged in Nashville, there was a lot of head scratching. So this is rock n’ roll, eh?  When the band’s debut album hit, the record pretty much exploded the “rock free Music City” myth and now, ten years after the genesis of The Clutters, Nashville has become an epicenter for the rawest of rock n’ roll. Coincidence?  Probably not.

Breaking Bones finds The Clutters – vocalist/guitarist Doug Lehmann, bass player Jake Rosswog, drummer Stephanie Brush and keyboardist Andrew Higley (who also moonlights as a touring keyboardist with Ben Folds) – raising the bar for rock n’ roll once again with twelve tracks that land somewhere between Vanilla Fudge and The Voidoids, AC/DC and The Animals.

Members of The Clutters are available for interviews.  The band’s current album Breaking Bones is out now. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.

Bronson has it all. Story would be perfect for a train ride from a failed relationship into a new life.” – My Old Kentucky Blog

“We all had a fantastic time making this video,” says NYC-based songwriter David Bronson, “But it took an incredible amount of planning, three full days of shooting, and significantly more than that in the editing.”

Bronson is talking about the clip for the first single from his album Story, which is now receiving a release in the UK on January 7th.  The video is a marvel on a budget, with Bronson appearing on several instruments at once, and the time of day shifting endlessly in the side window. “I had a lot of fun putting in little conceptual touches, like the time of day outside the window changing to the beat of the song,” Bronson explains.

Sonically, Bronson’s Cat Stevens-esque vocals have a plaintive humility, and an emotionally rich, melodic, resonance. His style as a guitarist stems from an upbringing spent dissecting the spidery playing of Jerry Garcia and the classic rock exoticism of Jimmy Page.

In addition to his solo work, Bronson has composed instrumental, ambient soundscapes for filmmaker Jennifer Elster’s “In The Woods,” the first installment of Elster’s upcoming film series entitled “The Being Experience.” The project is an unflinching look at existence, featuring a cast of actors, thinkers, and musicians including Dave Matthews, Moby, Questlove, Rufus Wainwright, and Yoko Ono among many others.

David Bronson’s Story and the album’s first single and video for “Times” are all available now.  David Bronson is available for interviews.  Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.
